BASIC LIFE SUPPORT (BLS) PROVIDER CPR

- Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider CPR is the American Heart Association (AHA) CPR Certification required by most healthcare professionals.
- The BLS CPR course covers all the same topics as the Heartsaver CPR course. Topics like CPR for adults, children, and infants. Scene safety, assessment, chest compression, and breathing techniques for all age groups. Use of the Automated External Defibrillator (AED), special breathing techniques, and choking.
- The BLS CPR course also covers a few additional topics: checking the pulse, using a bag-mask device, and team rescue procedures. The language used in the course is technical and includes some medical terminology.
Who Needs Basic Life Support CPR?
- Anyone can take BLS! You do not need to be licensed, or a healthcare professional!
- Some licensed professionals are required to take the BLS course to renew their license or to maintain employment requirements.
- Some professions which may require BLS certification are: Registered Nurses (RN), Emergency Medical Transport (EMT), Paramedic, Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Home Health Aid (HHA), Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), Psychiatric Technician, Occupational Therapist (OT), Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA), Pharmacist, Physical Therapist (PT), Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA), Dentist, Dental Assistant, Dental Hygienist, and Personal Trainer.
